Church Regathering Plan

Dear Connected Life Church family,

Do you remember traveling on a long journey with your family and at the end of it all arriving at that one unforgettable place? It's called home. For the last seventy-eight days we have journeyed through unprecedented times. Along the way God has used us to assist the elderly that where in need of water and groceries, we have fed our vulnerable community of Santurce and Old San Juan consistently, we provided groceries for the hurting in our church family and the community. We provided groceries for every student’s family of Escuela Manuel Boada in Barrio Obrero. We have supported missionaries and met other tangible needs along the way. Thank you for serving and giving during this critical season!

Now it’s time to come home.

Two weeks ago, Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced made the announcement that Puerto Rico is moving into the second phase to reopen. This means our church will move into our Phase I Plan and reopen our church for a studio audience on June 7, 2020.

I have considered why not open sooner since our Governor Wanda Vázquez has given churches the permission to gather at a 25% capacity. We are a portable church and rent the facilities of the YMCA of San Juan. Which impacts this decision in two ways? First, the YMCA is not reopening their facilities until July 2020. Secondly, our current worship area is limited in space. Maintaining all the government guidelines our seating capacity is for 30 chairs during Phase I. After having all leaders and teams necessary for a regular Sunday morning service we have about 10 or 12 seats available. Therefore, we will have more seating capacity available to gather during Phase II.

As we take this step forward, I promise we will continue to monitor the situation and make any necessary updates as needed, based on the recommendations given by our state government. Your health and safety are of the utmost importance to us.

We are aware of the fact that COVID-19 is still a risk to certain members of our community, and we encourage the vulnerable to stay home and participate in church online as long as necessary. Worshiping at a physical campus does not mean a Christian has more faith or courage, just like worshiping from home does not make a Christian more careful or considerate of others.

The threat of the virus isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so we must adapt to it. After much prayer and planning we have a regathering plan outlined for you.

We know that for some time church will look different while we practice spacing and sanitation safety measures. That’s okay. We’re flexible and adaptive. We’ve always taught that our preferences are secondary to our mission. Corporate worship gatherings were spiritually beneficial for multiple reasons before COVID-19 and they will continue to be just as beneficial even with distancing measures in place. Our purpose is to rescue lost people who are far from God and currently living one heartbeat away from an eternity in Hell. Our mission is to elevate Jesus, connect and develop people to serve our island. Our methods might change, but the message remains.

Our first official regathering will be Sunday, June 7th at 11:00 a.m. with a studio audience. We will continue with a studio audience until June.
